Will You Join Me In Helping Improve the Quality of Education in Our Public Schools?
I am entering this campaign as a fellow taxpayer that is concerned about the quality of our educational system. I'm sure that you must value living in a society that can provide free public education to our children, just like I do. You know, sometimes in order to keep our schools accountable to our kids and the taxpayers one has to take action. That's what this campaign is all about - taking action - personal action.
I have been meeting with several educator friends over the past few months to try to find ways to improve the quality of education in our public schools. As a result of our conversations, I made a personal decision to get more involved with how our schools function by committing to run for the HISD Board of Trustee District 2 position. I will bring to this board proven leadership experience, sensitivity to the community, a fresh perspective and an INDEPENDENT voice on some key issues that I believe will help move our public schools towards academic excellence. My primary recommendations call for:
- Equitable distribution of resources to all HISD schools
- Support leadership trainings for Teachers and Principals
- Strengthen partnerships for after school enrichment programs
- Implement more vocational training and rigorous college prep courses in high schools
- Improve transparency of public school fiscal accountability
As a HISD parent and a concerned citizen I have decided that I must be the change that I want to see in HISD and I am willing to commit the next four years of my professional life to serve our youth and communities as a Trustee for HISD District 2.
I urge you to join me today in supporting my campaign for a better HISD for our kids, for our communities, for Houston, and for our country. Together, we can ensure that HISD continues to be one of the best school districts in the United States of America.
